Bomber that I picked up in July, drove around all summer with and finally opened tonight. I stored it well, but it’s got some miles on it. Pour is a decent cola brown with active carbonation and a fizzy head. Aromas are further indication that nothing has gone bad here - some mild chocolate and a little bit of earthy scent. Flavor is simple but good for the style. Mild chocolate and autumn leaves with some nuts and earth. A bit muted and washed out, but good enough to make me glad I picked this one up when I was up in God’s country this summer.

22 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 9/10/2013. Pours slightly hazy dark brown color with a nice 2 finger dense tan head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass. Aromas of big caramel, chocolate, toast, toffee, molasses, nuttiness, brown bread, light roast, herbal, and toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/nutty malt notes; with good strength. Taste of caramel, chocolate, toast, toffee, molasses, nuttiness, brown bread, light roast, light herbal, and toasted earthiness. Minimal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, chocolate, toast, toffee, molasses, nuttiness, brown bread, light roast, and toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice complexity, balance, and robustness of dark/nutty malt flavors; with zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a moderately creamy and smooth mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent brown ale! All around great balance, complexity, and robustness of dark/nutty malt flavors; and very smooth to drink. A very enjoyable offering.
