Not so pale ale. A dark twist on our Citra Pale Ale, this complex and flavorful beer has pine and citrus undertones balanced with roasted malt.

Can. Clear brown color with tan head. Aroma is chocolate, citra hops, not catty, nice combo. Taste is chocolate, mild roast, nice exotic hops. Chewy mouthfeel with fine-bubbled carbonation. Good!

Bottle. Black/brown body with a big sudsy tan head and aromas of grain dust (seems to be an Odd Side calling card on their bottled beers), light roasted malt and resin. I’m not pulling a lot of the tropical \"Citra-esque\" aromas I expected. Flavor is nice and crisp... a very solid Black IPA... lots of dark malt with a very nice hops presence to balance against it. It doesn’t seem like Citra in the flavor either, but whatever... it’s a good resiny BIPA.

This brew pours a brownish-black color with a medium tan head that recedes steadily. Partial rings of lacing. Aroma of roast malt, hops and fruit. Light to medium body with flavors of caramel malt, piney hops and fruit. The finish is roasty up front with a resiny hops aftertaste. Decent overall.

Shared bottle, poured in shaker. Black. Quick fading head. Fruity nose for a black beer. Nothing noteworthy or offputting on taste or palate. Not really hoppy. Roast malt subtle. Okay beer.

Interesting mix of citra hops with the dark malts of a black IPA. Combination of bitterness and acidity tingle your tongue and taste buds. Citrus dominates the aroma, malts kick in on first taste and linger at the finish. A touch of sweetness mixes in to keep you guessing.

Bottle. Pours black with a light brown head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has an interesting combination of citrus, light pine, dark grains and light roasted malts. Flavor starts with smooth roasted malts and a hint of chocolate and has bitter citrus in the finish.
