A dark, rich Belgian abbey style ale made with Trappist yeast and dark Belgian candy sugar for a more traditional, malty Trappist character.

Bottle - hazy amber beer - aroma is doughy and vegetal, with some ambiguous fruit notes - tart and earthy flavor, with some doughy sweetness underneath - a wee bit of cherry - not much else happening here.

Bottle. Deep red-brown/chestnut body, thin off-white head. Toasty aroma with chocolate and some light buttery notes. Somewhat medicinal body, estery, with spices, burnt caramel, brown sugar, and toast leading to a leafy finish. Thin, soft body. While there were pleasant elements, I found the whole to be somewhat flat and lifeless.
