Like fresh powder, it's a seize-the-moment thing. At harvest, we rush Goschie Farms Cascade hops fresh from vine to kettle, not any cascades, mind you, but an heirloom strain, from a single field, restored from the original rhizome. Hope you're as hopped up as we are.

Bottle. Pours with a crystal clear, very pale yellow hued body with a large and creamy white head. Aromas are citrusy, grassy, herbaceous and dank. Very weed like with some fruity notes that seem like hops, but could be mild yeast esters. Low malt. Flavors are of brown sugar flambeed grapefruit. Fresh citrus. zesty, grassy, and pungent with a delicate malt bill. Not much to dislike. I am surprised by the ratings and notes from other friends. Some pineapple, light bready malt. Clean, hoppy, pleasant. Lively bubbles, a light cornbread and grapefruit character. Medium, although slightly medicinal bitterness. Balance is near neutral with a nod to bitterness. Lively bubbles and dry. Pretty solid and better than I was lead to believe.

Tap at Deschutes Brewery & Public House, Portland - 07/11/12. Hazed light yellow with a thin tan head that quickly clears to the edge and forms a pond. Nose is pale malts, light floral hop notes, citrus. Taste follows nose, fresh floral hops, citrus fruit. Medium bodied with soft carbonation, floral tones in the finish.

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, best before 12/27/2012. Pours lightly hazy golden straw color with a nice 2 finger dense bright white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice soapy lacing clings to the glass. Aromas of orange, grapefruit, lemon, herbal, floral, grass, pineapple, mango, light citrus rind, and light pine spiciness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance, but they are pretty muted for an IPA. Fairly dank smelling as well. Taste of grapefruit, orange zest, citrus rind, grass, lemon, herbal, floral, caramel, bread, pineapple, and light piney spiciness. Fair amount of earthy citrus bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of citrus, citrus rind, herbal, grass, floral, bread, and piney spiciness on the finish for a bit. Nice hop flavor complexity with a very nice hop/malt balance; very nice balance of bitterness/sweetness as well; zero cloying flavors on the finish. Not as bold as I was hoping for in a fresh hop ale, but the flavors are very nice. Medium carbonation and body; with a lightly creamy and sticky mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with almost zero warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a very nice wet hopped IPA. Not as boldly hoppy as some IPAs, but this has a lot of nice balance and hop flavor complexity; and is very smooth to drink. Really enjoyed this one.

Pour is a clear gold with a large white head. Aroma is suprisingly minimal. Maybe some lemon citrus note but that’s about it. Flavor is a little better. A decent hop bitterness with a little almost dry pils malt bringing things up at the end. This was just ok. I was hoping for this to be better but I never got that pungent hop I was looking for.

Bottled. A yellow beer with an off-white bhead. The aroma has notes of lemons, peaches, and a bit of malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, and lemons, leading to a bitter finish. Thanks fiulijn for sharing.

Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of fiulijn. Pours a clear golden with a white head. Very fresh and interesting aroma of hops - not all that piney or citrusy, just fresh. Medium body, a rather sweet fruitiness leading to this amazingly fresh and enticing hoppiness. Bitter alright but never over the top. Very pleasant. 021112
