Imperial Malt Liquor Aged in Bourbon Barrels

Too Classy for a Paper Bag. Here you have what could be the first malt liquor worthy of a glass. Typically a slighted style, we thought we would class it up with a stay in the wood and a healthy dose of dry-hopping. A huge hit of corn gives this one a smooth sweetness while its time spent aging in bourbon barrels will give you reason to share. Be warned: this one will kick you where you most expect it.

(Bottle, 0.355 l - BB 26.06.2018, from Alko, 20171012) The beer poured amber and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had malts, vanilla, sweetness and alcohol. Palate was full bodied and warming with medium carbonation. Flavours were sweetness, vanilla, alcohol, booze, more booze and low bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet, very boozy and lightly bitter. Unpleasant boozy mess.

Bottle from Systembolaget. Amber with a small white head. Sweet and strong with dried fruit, malt, toffee and bourbon. The body was full and the finish with warming alcohol.

Tap at Cafe Sara, 11th October 17. Pours dark, throthy head. Aroma is boozy, barrel, malt, liquor. Taste is barrel, warming liquor, it's quite nice, too strong. Good for the style I guess.

Expensive 12oz bottle pours with a clear copper body that supports an off white head of foam. The aroma offers up malty boozy chemicals and thin spiced apple notes blended with some corn, lime like hops and bourbon booze. The taste let's me know quickly that it doesn't like me as it tosses an all out assault with chemical booze, spiced apple, a bourbon boozy barrel aged sensation and then sugary molasses infused booze. The more I drink the more this beet sucks. I get no creamed corn. That's wrong. Mess of a 'beer' this.

355ml bottle from Elizabeth Station at Matt's. Pours an almost clear golden with a white head. Aroma is very fruity, sweet, malty, some bourbon, sugary cherries. Similar taste with tea notes. Crazy boozy, but still pleasant.

12 oz. bottle, pours a clear copper golden with a small off-white head. Aroma brings out loads of corn, alcohol, and light bourbon. Flavour is loaded with corn, bourbon, alcohol and cereal notes. The alcohol is surprisingly well-hidden, with only a slight burn, and a nice warming effect. A 14% BA imperial malt liquor... lol. It works well for what it is.

Bottle 0.355l at One Pint Pub, Helsinki. Color is clear dark orange with very small white head. Aromas and flavors: Booze, burning alcohol, bourbon, whiskey, vanilla, some grain and some malts. Can't get good points for this one. Quite bad actually. Drinkability is... Very bad.
