Imperial Malt Liquor Aged in Bourbon Barrels

Too Classy for a Paper Bag. Here you have what could be the first malt liquor worthy of a glass. Typically a slighted style, we thought we would class it up with a stay in the wood and a healthy dose of dry-hopping. A huge hit of corn gives this one a smooth sweetness while its time spent aging in bourbon barrels will give you reason to share. Be warned: this one will kick you where you most expect it.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a cloudy, dark orange color, with a small, bubbly, fleeting head. The aroma is candied orange, Campari, caramel, oak, and strong cloves. Sweet, with a mild, acrid bitterness. Heavy body, with a syrupy and sharp mouthfeel. This is a big, bitter, and boozy beer. Pretty fun and tasty.

Draft. A dark golden beer with a lazing beige head. The aroma has notes of malt, alcohol, caramel, and bourbon. The flavor is sweet with notes of bourbon, caramel, malt, and over ripe fruits, leading to a dry finish.

From a 355 ml bottle. Hazy amber golden colour with a thin white head. Sweet aroma with booze, bourbon barrel. Ripe fruits. Vineous notes. Syrup and vanilla. Taste is sweet. Full body with an oliy texture and a soft carbonation. Lasting sweet finish with rich malts and a burn from the booze. An extreme beer - but an excellent interpretation of a style usually very hard to drink.

On tap at The Bottle Shop Bermondsey. Clear amber colour lasting white head. Barley wine malt liquor flavour. Served extra cold. Some toffee. Some orange zest. Light heat. I mean it makes you drunk. Amazing really. Good bitter hops on the finish. Like an orange liqueur. Lovely sipper. Big bold but it works.

Malz, Holzfass, dunkle Trauben, Barleywine. Hinten holzig, Whisky. Sehr wärmend. Grandioser Absacker. Danach ins Bett.

On tap @ Holy Craft. Fantastic sticky nose. The beer starts sticky intense. Lots of depth from grain and smooth sweetness. The alcohol isn’t there, round and rich with an intense deep grainy maltiness. Fantastic!
