Imperial Malt Liquor Aged in Bourbon Barrels

Too Classy for a Paper Bag. Here you have what could be the first malt liquor worthy of a glass. Typically a slighted style, we thought we would class it up with a stay in the wood and a healthy dose of dry-hopping. A huge hit of corn gives this one a smooth sweetness while its time spent aging in bourbon barrels will give you reason to share. Be warned: this one will kick you where you most expect it.

12-01-18 // bottle shared. Purchased at Holy Craft Beer Store. First Malt Liquor. Clear golden. White lacing. Nose of malty bourbon. Taste is like Session-Whisky or a light whisky-liqueur. Strong barrel character. Sweet malty body. Biting boozy bourbon alcohol. Interesting. I sort of like it.

Tap@Mikkeller Vik, Copenhagen - Golden Amber pour with white head. Sweet malty with some detectable notes of citrus fruit, high corn sweetness, some straw, medium to thick body, rather a hard boozy warming edge but not still not overly overt into the finish.

Bottle from Drinks & Gifts, dated 06.26.17. Clear golden to orange color, short frothy head. Aroma of vanilla and bounty candybar, some alcohol. Coconut bounty candybar in taste as well, with milk chocolate and coconut. Wow, strange, something I didnt expect at all, especially from a golden colored beer. After a while some cookie and vanilla come through as well. Quite sweet in taste, not as much booze as expected from 14.2, but still present. Absolutely amazing brew

Gingerman, NYC tap 4oz pour: pours clear light amber with small head. Aroma is barrel, corn, booze, figs. Taste is super sweet and corny. Barrel shows up so does whisky. Not that the flavor is had bit I cannot say I really like it too much.

Bottle. Aroma of strong bourbon, like a jack. Also malt, boozy vanilla and caramel. Taste of strong caramel fudge, vanilla, yeast, strong bourbon vanilla, oak and a long boozy bourbon finish. Ridiculous, but very nice and the first malt liquor I really like.

Pours a clear, golden-yellow, with almost no head. Strong bourbon aroma, with some woodiness. Flavor is very boozy, with bourbon and oak the most notable. Surprisingly smooth for such a high alcohol content. There's a bit of a burn, but not much. Interesting to give a try, but probably won't be coming back to this.
