Imperial Malt Liquor Aged in Bourbon Barrels
Too Classy for a Paper Bag. Here you have what could be the first malt liquor worthy of a glass. Typically a slighted style, we thought we would class it up with a stay in the wood and a healthy dose of dry-hopping. A huge hit of corn gives this one a smooth sweetness while its time spent aging in bourbon barrels will give you reason to share. Be warned: this one will kick you where you most expect it.

Bottle. Clear golden pour. White head. Aroma: massive pale malts, oak, bourbon. Full body. Sweet malty taste. Barrel notes. The ending is somewhat harsh combining alcohol and tanins. Not the worst beer ever. Not the best founders offer by far.

Bottle. Pours clear rich amber with small creamy/foamy white head, bourbon aroma, adequate carbonation, mildly sweet woodsy taste with strong bourbon, smooth body with a bit of a throat burn on the way down, long woodsy bourbon finish. Very nice, to be consumed by sipping though!

0.355 l bottle from 'Holy Craft Beer Store', 2017 vintage, best before April 2018. Clear, dark amber with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, off-white head. Sweetish-malty, almost sugary and slightly spicy aroma of lots of bourbon, honey, vanilla and some sultanas. Very sweet, malty, slightly spicy taste of honey, grains, caramel, massive bourbon and vanilla, followed by a long, moderately bitter, rather warming and boozy finish. Full body, oily mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Slow sipper, really boozy but not unpleasant at all, very interesting for sure!

355ml bottle. Pours clear amber with a thin off-white head, quickly dissipating. Aroma is malty and woody, massive bourbon barrel, caramel. Taste is similar, the bourbon flavour dominates, woody, sweet, syrupy, caramel, toffee, corn, loads of warming booze. Full bodied, surprisingly prickly carbonation on the tongue. First time trying a malt liquor and this is one of the highest rated examples, it's ok but I don't think this style is for me.
