BIG UP is our revolving single hop series that will feature some of our favourite little green cones and some that we want to get to know a little better and bring into the brew house. As well as featuring a new hop each brew, this beer is fermented with our new London Ale III yeast pitch that will aid in a softer and fuller mouthfeel and bring with it peachy and stone fruit esters.

Our first BIG UP showcases Simcoe, one of our favourite hops known to bring a myriad of orange, peach, mango, resin and pine. Expect a little bit of each as this hop is used at varying stages throughout the brew day and dry-hopped multiple times to get as much as possible from this boisterous hop.

Cask at St Albans Beer & Cider Festival 2018, St Albans, Herts. A hazy golden coloured pour with a medium white head on top. Hoppy, citrus, tropical fruit aroma and taste. Quite a pleasant offering from Electric Bear.

Can from de Caigny. Slight hazy golden color, short frothy head. Aroma of citrussy hop (I was expecting onion and garlic), some caramelly malt, bit tropical fruit. Slight bitter in taste, some caramel sweetness. Decent stuff. --- Beer merged from original tick of Big Up Simcoe on 02 May 2018 at 07:27 - Score: 7

330 ml. can. 27022018. Orange brigh, big creamy white head. Nose is bit too sweet, low dried apricot, caramel, sweeter fruit hop, caramel, low yeast. Bitter taste but too much paper taste, bitter paper, dull yeast, soggy bread, apricot, feels stale old, too much paper, weird chemical bitter, washing powder. Weak. Odd not a success.
