Thuis uit een flesje. Rasputin, 10,4%. Zwart, lichtbruin schuim. Toast in het aroma, volle smaak, koffie, bittere chocolade, goede geroosterde nasmaak (als ik dat zo kan zeggen).

Bottle, 0.33l. Black pour, thin beige layer on top. Good lacing on the glass. Intense nose, heavily malty, seems quite sweet. Roasty and fruity notes in the background. Full body, soft carbonation. Oily texture, creamy, chewy mouthfeel. Quite smooth. Roasty bittersweet taste, not as sweet as nose would suggest. Malty aroma, caramel, cocoa, chocolate. Syrup, molasses, brown sugar. Fruity background, dried fruits and figs. Mild spicy, notable alcohol presence. Long finish, dry and liquory. Pretty good.

Bottle from Tanakaya. Dark brown colour with red hints. Small thin golden head. Aroma is chocolate, bit hoppy, oaty, touch of smoke and spice, nice orangey citrus keeping it feeling quite light. Taste is good too. Initial chocolate, rich, then goes into the orange bitterness and finishes with a long fade of booziness. The orange and the booze together make me think of Cointreau, but this is probably just a lazy comparison. Maybe more like a dark Chocolate Orange. Really nice. Thick as hell, but at the same time can't really feel the booze. Probably will in about 5 minutes. Rerate Aug 2015. Wow, this tastes great. Light roastiness fading into lovely caramel sweetness, almost like a Mars bar. Aroma is roasty, sweet, caramel. This really is like a liquid alcoholic mars bar. I love it. So smooth.

Brewery tap. Loads of foam in my tasting glass. Licorice, chocolate and malt in the powerful aroma. Syrupy fluid, very thick mouthfeel. Massively bodied. Totally overpowering flavor, very sweet of course, but the sweetness is challenged by roasted malt, licorice and lots of dark chocolate. Earthy hoppy aftertaste. Not a sign of alcohol. A very good version of Imperial Ruissian Stout, from a Dutch brewery. Matured in the bottle, this beer will only gain in complexity. Without doubt one of the best beers ever brewed in the Netherlands. Corked bottle: 1st brew from march 2007, tasted 22.02.10. Dark brown color, small but steady head. Licorice, dried figs, raiisn, cream and milk chocolate in the aroma. Very full bodied, thick mouthfeel. Alcoholic yet deceptively soft and velvety. Coffee, licorice, milk chocolate, dried figs, raisin, red fruit, papaya. Warming and complex. Velvety soft. Matures tremendously well. The rating is totally deserved.

# 108, 9/2015. velice příjemné, sladké, plné pivo, vyšší alkohol pouze mírně pocitově cítit. V chuti dominuje hořká čokoláda.

My 330 ml bottle for rating came from De Bierkoning in Amsterdam. Purchased a few days ago I see it was bottled on 7/26/18 and is rated at 10.4 % ABV. Pouring into the best available glass it comes out an almost pure black liquid topped with a steady head of light tan foam. The nose is licorice and molasses, good start. The taste is a light version of Ten FIDY, my baseline imperial stout. Chocolate, berry, grain, straw, a hint of coffee and a bit more sweetness before going to a nice bitterness. De Molen does imperial stouts proud again for me.

The beer comes across as an almost light imp. stout. it’s not super dark, not super roasty or overly filling. It does hide the high abv well, surprising since the flavour does not show the big malt bill as it one would expect. good beer, but not near my favourite in the big style. Beerwulf online bottle.

26.09.2013, tap (as De Molen Cease & Desist) @ Arendsnest:
Almost non existing bubbly head. Aroma is slightly dry and spiced, dark malts, oak, alcohol, licorice, anise, grass, even more oak. Taste is dry and boozy, dark malts, oak, aquavit, almond essence, licorice, cardboard, grass. Very dry longlasting mouthfeel. Not a chanse this could be the same beer as the lovely Rasputin...
