KBS gets its coffee fix in the very first variant to come from our beloved bourbon barrel-aged stout. Yes, KBS may already be brewed with coffee, but it gets some extra oomph when it’s aged on espresso beans after being removed from barrels. The result is a fresh and snappy coffee twist on our classic barrel-aged beer. Who says you can’t start your day with a barrel-aged stout?

Bottle. Black pour with a foamy khaki colored head that has fair retention. The aroma is strong and bold with coffee, coffee grounds, sawdust and well roasted grains. The taste, like the aroma, features multilayered coffees, vanilla and oak. The palate is full and a bit oily. Finishes long and semisweet. Overall: decent brewski. Paired well with some roasted cashew nuts.

Bottle from The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours dark brn/blk with a slight tan head. Aroma has a lot of very nice coffee. Full bodied. Flavor is espresso, toasted malt and dark chocolate. I call it well towards dry. Lots of coffee bitterness. Dark chocolate blooms in the finish. Excellent.

12oz bottle pours with a deep dark colored body that supports a tiny ring of tan bubbles. The aroma offers up a fair load of rich coffee with an oily to burnt depth followed by thin layers of booze and malt balls. The taste delivers similar notes that come across as deep rich oily coffee that spreads directly into highly roasted coffee to burnt maltiness. The experience is also punctuated by a sharp booziness that helps break up the deep richness some and keeps the whole thing grounded in a sense. The booziness ramps up toward the finish as a faint spicy almost oak like character. Nice sipper.

Roast, espresso and a little syrup. Burnt toast and leather. Dark chocolate. Pretty good variation on the main beer. Black pour with good head and mocha lacing. Bitter finish that stays with you, with some notes of sweetness, caramel. Tap at Fire Works.

Pours pitch black with a firm brown head. Aroma's: big roast, espresso, a little bit red fruit. Retronasal it's roast, strong coffee, boozy, light bourbon and wood. Flavour is light moderate sweet and moderate roasty bitter. Medium bodied. Fairly strong alcohol feel, but not burning. Long finish with lots of roast, moderate bitter.

35,5 cl bottle @ home. Rated on 24.4.2021 Aroma has coffee and licorice. Feels rich and nice. Flavour has coffee, licorice alcohol, ash and tobacco. Finishes with saltiness. Heavy slow sipper with strong flavours and non-disturbing feeling of alcohol. Just Delicious.
