On tap at Craft Bier Bar, Bremen. Pours black with beige head. Aroma of chocolate, cherries, ethanol. Tastes slightly sweet with balancing bitterness. Medium to full bodied, smooth mouth feel. Very nice beer.

330ml bottle. Pours an unclear dark brown with ruby hue and a small, creamy, short lived, light brown head that leaves spotty lacing. Sweet aroma of roasted malt, dark chocolate, caramel, dried dark fruit and licorice. Sweet flavour of roasted malt, caramel, dried dark fruit, dark chocolate, licorice, tobacco, brown sugar, ash, earth and spicy hops with a dry, alcohol warming finish. Medium body with an oily texture and soft carbonation. Very nice.

Tasting @ Tim's. Dark brown pour with some beige foam. Nose is sweetish, some dark caramel, with some herbal liquorice thing, bready. Taste is sweet but not too sweet, good balance and finishes with lots of fresh burnt rye bread sweetness. Freshly baked bread, really tasty and surprised that this breadiness is actually coming through so well. Rye spices linger in the finish, burnt bread crumbs. Really good stuff, drinks easy which is super dangerous for this abv.

Semmi hab, vörösbe hajló fekete szín. Kávés, csokis, meggyes, aszalt gyümölcsös illat. Édeskés, kávés-kakaós, csokis, aszalt gyümölcsös-meggyes ízvilág. Testes, enyhén szénsavas, közepesen keserű. Csodás, jól kiegyensúlyozott sör

Another brew repatriated from Amsterdam on a Rhine River trip. Thank you Die Bierkoning. I pour the 330 ml bottle in my favorite domestic snifter glass. Black, certainly, and a brief light tan top. The snifter gets lifted for a sniff. An assault on the nose, chocolate, raspberry and baked bread. A taste, only better. There is charcoal, dark chocolate, black licorice, malt and plum. It concludes with a light bitterness. Very, very nice. Shared with my daughter on a great fall afternoon and appreciated all around. So do I go back to Amsterdam for just the beer?

2012 bottle at home. Deep brown appearance wth a nice thin brown head. Aroma has light smoke, licorice, and figs. The Belgian yeast is much more apparent in the flavor. A bit thin. Plums and grapes. I'm not a big fan of impy stouts made with Belgian yeast tbf.
