Very dark brown and full of chunks. Lots of dried fruits and a hint of cocoa. Sweet and sharpmred fruits, also a blackberry taste which is both sweet and slightly sour. Quite rich and warming.

Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 26D, adapted). Bottle 33 cl - Bottled on 10/12/13. AROMA: very complex and rich aroma with vinous notes, dark caramel, dried dark fruits and cocoa. background slight malty sweet. no hop aroma. APPEARANCE: dark brown color with a lot of sediment in suspension. thin light brown head with very low retention, maybe due to high alcohol content. TASTE: very rich flavour with notes of dark caramel, dark dried fruits, a strong vinous and port-like flavour, dark cocoa, all blended with a very good supportive and sweet malty background. low bitterness with a semi-sweet and slight roasted bitter finish. PALATE: creamy and velvety texture with a smooth alcohol warmth. low carbonation. OVERALL: an oustanding dark ale with very complex aroma and flavour that leaves you wanting more and more. just needs a bit improvement on the appearance. Recommended.

Dark copper body, with a big, frothy, yellowish to beige head.
Aroma of dried fruits, grapefruit, orange, cocoa.
Quite boozy tasty, with dried fruits, caramel, coffee, cocoa, some berries.
Medium, creamy mouthfeel, with a soft carbonation.
Finishes roasty, a bit dry, smooth, with coffee.

Tasty. Although the alcohol is noticeable, it still drinks smooth. Great balance, with enough hops and roastiness, so that it doesn’t get too sweet. Another great brew by De Molen, although not among my favourites of them.

Bottle, 330 ml from Roybeer, Milano. Shared with JFK10000. Pours reddish brown with almost no head. Dried fruits aroma and flavor. Caramel, roasted malts. Heavy sweet, bit too sweet for my taste.
