Bottle @ Cerveteca Lisboa. Hazy very dark brown with a big off-white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel, light spicy and yeasty. Flavor is quite sweet and moderate bitter. Dry and moderate bitter finish with a little warming alcohol. Carbonation is a bit high. 160718

At Crafty corner, Lisbon, Dark brown, murky beer, small head. Aroma is tart, malt, fruit. Taste is the same, nice.

Very dark brown with big fluffy head. Aroma and flavour have dried fruit, sugar, aniseed and some dark roasted malts. Very Belgian.

Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 26D). Bottle 33 cl - Batch L196CO (BBF OUT2017). AROMA: a mix of medium notes of yeast, slight sulphur, roasted malt and slight lacquer. odd medium-low acid-like aroma. APPEARANCE: dark ambar color and clear. large light brown head with good retention. lace formation. TASTE: meidum-low notes of yeast, slight roasted malt and hints of dark caramel. medium-low bitterness with a dry finish. PALATE: medium-light body with medium-high to high carbonation. OVERALL: a dark strong belgian ale without much complexity and notes of yeast.
