Picked up at the bottle shop at De Molen many manny months back. The 33cl bottle pours with a deep darkness that supports a two inch tall mocha colored head. The aroma is full of malt balls and melted chocolate with a bit of fudge, toffee, dark roasted malts and is a sliver of peat too. Nice! The taste pokes a peatiness at you first before chocolate and malt balls and coffee and dark roasted malts try to intercede amid the peatiness and slight spicy black licorice note. Terrific peaty addition to this Imperial Stout where you’re left with a pleasing creaminess into the after taste.

From the jug at the 2012 Pigs Ear Beer Festival, E London. Jet black pour with a beige head. Dark roast coffee aroma with dark chocolate, tobacco, wood and lots of smoke. Dark roast coffee, smoke and dark chocolate flavour. Full on throat warming action. Lovely stuff.

Black colour with a big bubbly and creamy beige topp. Peat and bacon aroma. Full body and a dry texture. Flavour was like the aroma. Rich peated and bacon. My mother enjoyed this more than me :-)

Smoky charred beef, kidney pie on the nose. Dark brown, murky, thick beige head, some lacing. Smoky peat and meaty flavor, just as the aroma, but now within a prominent prune base. Not terribly sweet and no chocolate detected. Very meaty.

On tap at Pig’s Ear Beer festival 2012, Hackney, London. A jet black coloured pour with a small beige/tan head on top. Intense roasty, malty, smokey aroma. Tastes very rich and heavy, roasty, malty, smokey, some chocolate, slight bitterness. Complex and well balanced. A quite superb stout.

330 ml bottle. Pours black with big tan head and nice lacing. Huge peat smoke aroma; very difficult to pull any else. Overly smoked. I know there is a full malt base in there and suspect there may be some other complex flavors but they are overpowered by the smoke. Sorry, it’s so smoked it tastes like burnt garbage.
