Hemel & Aarde is brewed with the most heavily peated malts we could find. Not for the fainthearted. This powerful brew overwhelms you with smoke, chocolate and coffee. Flavour indication: smoke, chocolate, coffee Translates as Heaven & Earth

WARNING - the most ridiculous gusher showering 2 walls in my kitchen and covering the floor. It literally exploded (despite it having been sat in my outhouse upright for over a week) and I ended up with a little less than half the bottle !!! I digress ... (half) a bottle at home (thanks to Dennis for an IP trade) 30/10/12. Murky dark brown, no head, small particles line the glass above the rim of the liquid. Big peaty nose, molasses, treacle toffee, dark malts, touch of chocolate and spice. Big peated whisky taste at the fore of this beer. Molasses, dark sugars, dark fruits, smoky. Full bodied with no carbonation and a smooth finish. Tasty stuff but a bit one dimensional and it would have been nice to have had more than half of what I’d paid for !!!

Bottle - Cocoa and alcohol with hints of smoke, roasted malts and coconut. Black with a very rich brown head. The peat is there and wow is it good. Syrupy mouthfeel without the lingering alcohol finish I have come to expect in an Imperial Stout. If you are an Islay fan, you will love this beer.

Pours dark black into a snifter. Mocha head recedes to coat surface leaving trailing sheets. Sweet smoky chocolate and espreaso aromas. Dry and frothy with chocolate upfront turning to espresso and bandaids in the lasting smoky finish.

Bottle shared at tasting. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma is peaty, chocolate, burnt malt, coffee. The peat comes out nicely in the flavour, not overpoweringly so as can be the case with some BA beers. Heavy sweet and bitter with roast, chocolate and licorice going into the finish. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

Opaque black beer, thick tan head. Smoky peaty nose. Softish palate. Dark malt that is quite milky, almost creamy. Mild smoke and peat are obvious. Coffee and licorice in the undertone. Finishes soft and dry. As the beer warms there is chocolate and marmite. Minerals. Complex, dark and drinkable.

Bottle @ Dan’s house. Deep black appearance with a foamy, brown head. Fairly peaty smoky, thick black licorice, dark chocolate, vanilla, a bit fruity, delicious aroma. Rich peaty, swampy smoky, thick/rich dark chocolate, a touch woody, vanilla flavor with a peaty finish and aftertaste. Thick dark chocolate all the way through. Delicious stuff.

12 oz. bottle, pours black with a medium tan head. Aroma is quite smoky, with peaty malt dominating, and some dark unsweetened chocolate buried in there. Flavour brings out the whiskey / peat malt upfront, but very tastefully without any ashtray or nastily smoky qualities, dark chocolate and toasted bread. Medium-bodied, with relatively high carbonation, medium sweetness.
