Hemel & Aarde is brewed with the most heavily peated malts we could find. Not for the fainthearted. This powerful brew overwhelms you with smoke, chocolate and coffee. Flavour indication: smoke, chocolate, coffee Translates as Heaven & Earth

Brilliant and slightly sweet aroma with islay smoke, licorice, some salt and hints of coffee. Rather smooth palate. Flavour has smoked ham, some peat, licorice and salt. Some sourish element in the background. Very nice stuff, gets a bit sticky towards the end of the glass though.

Keg at Craft Beer Co. It pours near black, with some ruby highlights and a thick light tan head. The nose is smoked peat, liquorice, smoky bacon and chocolate. The taste is peat, salted liquorice, oak, roasted malt, meat, smoke, lingering alcohol warmth, ash, lactose and dark chocolate, with a dry-roasted finish. Full body, lively carbonation and velvety mouth-feel. Complex, well balanced and damn tasty.

75cl bottle. Bottle nr 12 according to label. Poured pitch black with a brown, thin head. Aroma has chocolate, smoke, roasted malt and licorice. Flavor is roasted malt, coffee, ash and tar. Full bodied. Very oily palate. Alcohol quite well hidden. Finish is dry, with long coffee and honey/vanilla finish. Dark chocolate pushing through alot as it gets warmer. Not nearly as much smoke as I had expected. Overall a nice brew, but felt like it was a little too much of everything.

Maffig!

Bottle from De Bierkoning, Amsterdam. Virtually black pour with a wee tan head. Peat heavy nose with roasted malt, smoke and chocolate lurking in the shadows. Full bodied and rich, the flavour continued along similar lines with hints of coffee, licorice and some tidy hop bitterness towards the long lingering finish. Super complex and super tasty. Winner.
