American Wheat Ales do not get enough praise. We've taken our K*ntish Town Beard, a beer with a solid body and bitterness to balance, an amplified it to mark our 500th brew milestone. Packed full of tangerine meets grapefruit; there’s a lot of pithy citrus. While the dry & bitter flavours kick in, you get full-frontal pine from the American hop trio we’ve used. The thick & delicious body backs up its imperialistic character. It’s a big, delightfully bold statement of our beer today.

330ml bottle. Pours hazy red amber with a cream coloured head. Aroma: fruity, malty, caramel, light citrus. Taste: boozy marmalade, grapefruit, lemon, toffee, caramel, light spices, dank hops. Medium body. Light carb. Sticky mouthfeel, huge long lasting bitter finish. It is a big beer but lacks refinement & balance, it reminds me of the huge malty west coast DIPAs of a few years ago.

Bottle picked up from Trafalgar Wines, Brighton, West Sussex, consumed at home Thursday 15th March 2018 whilst cooking Polish Hunters Stew. Pours hazy amber with a white head, very murky in fact. Toffee, boozy, some banana, a harsh bitter edge (but not unpleasant). Soft in the mouth, lemon and grapefruit, big American hop overload. Good but not entirely polished, but I can forgive them for that as they I don't think they were looking for a polished beer. A7 A3 T7 P4 Ov15 3.6

Keg at BD Soho, 12/02/18. Hazedgolden amber with a decent light beige head. Nose is bitter citric peel, grass, wheaten bread, caramel, rye, raw hop exhaust. Taste comprises grapefruit, pine dusting , light spice, mineral bite, orange peel. Medium plus body, fine carbonation, semi drying close sprayed with earthy hop bitterness. Ok boost juice but a little harsh in places and lacking finesse.
