Two year old bottle at home. The colour is dark brown to black with a small beige head. Aroma of spices, roasted malt, chili, ash and some chocolate and alcohol. The flavour is similar and is very spiced and roasted with sweet chocolate in the background. Silky mouth feel, medium body and a light bitterness. Interesting, spicy and roasted.

330ml bottle from Vinmonopolet Langnes. A bubbly, fawn-coloured head leaving spotty lacing on the glass. Almost coal black in the glass, hazy. Promising Yuletide aroma of spiced caramel malts. Fine blended taste profile of cocoa, spices like cardamon and cinnamon, dough, and lactose. A welcome bitter touch to the ending, still rather sweet. Fine depth and smooth on the swallow. Decent Yuletide qualities. (Tromsø 05.01.2018).

Bottle. Pours dark cola almost black with medium offwhite head. Aroma is licorice root, mint, lime, roasted malt, prunes, hazelnuts, black coffee, nutmeg and cardamom. Taste is medium sweet, light to medium bitter and light acidic. Body is creamy with light carbonation. Finish is long, intense and mostly sweet with notes that follow the nose. Very rich.

From bottle. Pour dark brown. Big coffee notes along with hints of spices. This is extremely well-balanced. Not going for the big booze has made for a lovely, restrained sipper that I'll go back to for sure.

330ml bottle. Very dark brown with a medium beige head, great retention. Aroma is as described, plenty of coffee and chocolate, caramel, spices. Taste is malty, spicy, coffee, chocolate, sugary sweetness, definite cinnamon and cardamom notes lingering in the warming and lightly bitter finish. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation a little heavier than I expected, smooth though. A really enjoyable Christmassy beer.

Murky brown beer with a thick, beige head. Malt, caramel and a hint of coffee in the smell. Tastes of caramel, malt, coffee, fruit and there's a slightly spiced hit to it too. Rich and smooth with a bit of an earthy aftertaste, this is a proper Christmas beer.
