Zwart bier zonder schuim. Smaak is warm en krachtig, veel alcohol. Verder iets van rozijnen, anijs en framboos. Is wat waterig en heeft niet de echte intense complexe smaak.

Bottle, courtesy of RichTheVillan (cheers Rich!), pours with a clear mahogany colored body that supports a thin tan ring of foam. The aroma offers up smooth brown sugar dusted raisins and then a thin hit of toffee flowing into booze. The taste delivers smooth rich brown sugar stewed raisins and brighter notes of spicy black strap molasses. Behind those flavors lurks a thin sweet fruity ester sensation. Nice sipper.

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ W. van Schaik, Vianen. Clear dark brown with a very thin off-white head. Caramel, dark fruits, malty boozy aroma. Sweet boozy taste with a light sour touch. Sticky mouthfeel with a long boozy finish. Not as smooth as most barley wines but still very nice.

From a 330ml bottle on 2/10/2018 (shared with Butz). Pours a deep brown with the barest of heads. The nose is a bit malty, particularly caramel. Flavour wise, there's a fair bit of caramel, toffee and brown sugar, with some firmish hops in the mix, but the whole show is overwhelmed by the long and slightly harsh alcoholic burn at the back. The texture is slick and the carbonation modest. Drinks every bit of its 15%. A massive and intense beer, but lacking a bit in balance, and is not easy drinking.
