Bottle sample at a tasting at Max’s place. Thanks Tom L. Black with a tan head. Aroma of roast, chocolate, some coffee, a bit of chili. Flavor has some umami, roast, coffee, and a biter finish with a bit of mildly hot chili. Medium-bodied. Decent, a bit too much umami.

330ml bottle, from trade with Beersiveknown. Many thanks! Pours dark with a creamy tan head. Aroma is soft coffee roast. Taste is soft dark malts, light cocoa, faint cola with a moderate chili tang. Thankfully not as much chili as feared!

Bottle from O’Brien’s, Athlone [040616]
Black, no head
Aroma of soft tabasco, some dark malts, mellow roast, getting liquorice
Taste of rich dark malts, some dark chocolate, chilli pepper
Palate - Almost no carb, medium body, dark malts, no booze. Finish - fairly sweet dark malts, hot chilli finish, quite a burn, getting roasted malts
Overall - Taste better than aroma, lots of chilli heat, no vegetal notes which is great for a chilli porter. I like this a lot.

Bottle from McHughs. Black with a tan head. Aroma is cream roast malt. Flavour is spicy roast chocolate malt, blackberry, chilli shines through. Nicely balanced spiced Porter.
