Bottle from Chester Beer and Wine labelled as an 'old ale'. Clear mahogany with small off white head. Aroma and taste has a light roastiness, chocolate, nuts, some dark fruits. Decent body. A very respectable malty bitter.

12/2/2019. Bottle from the Stonehouse Brewery Visitor Centre. Pours clear pale brown with a small off-white head. Aroma of malt, hint of chocolate, toffee and fruit. Medium body, moderate bitterness and body. Slight oily texture, average carbonation. Light toasted finish. Best of the 6 bottles we took away from our visit.

Bottle from the brewery store. Nice head with good duration. Color is amber. Aroma and taste are rich caramel, toasted malt, fruits and has a nice bitter and sweet finish.

Cask at the Marlbororough Arms; clear light copper pour with a off white head, aroma has light nutty action and some red fruits, taste has toffee a hint of roast malts and some autumn fruits.

Cask at the Salopian Bar, Shrewsbury. Mid-brown with a small brown head. Forest floor, walnut and a slight astringency in the aroma. Sweetish malty taste with a bit of sourness around the edges. Short to medium dry finish. Average at best. Not impressive.

Bottle from Appleyards Deli, Shrewsbury. Appearance - deep amber with a decent head. Nose - a malt bag. Toffee. Taste - toffee, nuts, dry malt. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy yet crunchy texture and a fairly good finish. Overall - a decent bitter.

Bottle shared with Ashton McCobb. Pours clear amber with a thick off-white head. Aromas of dark malts, very brown. Taste is chocolate, more brown malt and biscuit. Light sweet finish.
