rum & red wine barrel aged imperial stout

Rum barrel characters dominate, hints of wine from the pinot noir, dark fruits, fig, liquorice all leading to a rich silky smooth finish.

Dark brown with a ring beige head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, oxidization, toffee and overripe dark fruits. Flavour is heavy sweet and moderate bitter. Full bodied with sadly pretty dead carbonation.

Bottle shared at THT July. Black with no head. Sweet toffee malts, sweet port, vanilla, toffee, figs, sugary raisins, blackberries. Quite sweet with medium bitterness. Almost full bodied with almost no carbonation. Very tasty, just lacks carbonation.

Tap at Second Draft for Carbon Brews’ 1st anniversary event. Solid black pour with light tan head. Aroma is boozy, roasted chocolate malt, sharp bitterness. Taste follows - sharp bitter booziness up front, sweet malt and slight treacle without going overboard. Nice roasted flavors to balance. Rum barrel more apparent than red wine, I think? Lasting sharp finish.
