Palatable (Batch 4) is an imperial stout aged in Maple Van Winkle Special Reserve oak bourbon barrels for one year and was brewed in collaboration with our friends from Palate in Milford. It's smooth with chocolate fudge and sweet maple syrup flavors followed by a warming sensation from the barrel.

12.7oz bottle I got via trade, pours an oily dark cola brown with basically no head. Confirming this is Batch 4, the maple Van Winkle version. Nose had smoke and wood, rootbeer, some chocolate, more birch than maple. Flavors are better and stronger, witch hazel, maple, birch, whiskey, marzipan, root beer barrels, black licorice. Oily finish, a little boozy, a little bite.

Draft at Drafting Table. Pours a pitch black with a small brown head that dissipates instantly. Big maple forward nose with chocolate fudge, cacao nib, kit-kat wafer, and bourbon on the nose. Oak, dark chocolate covered barley, and bourbon soaked cacao nib on the palate. Relatively thick body with a robust, full-bodied mouthfeel. Good heavy fudge and bourbon ball notes on the palate with maple creme brulee as it warms. Not too sweet, but definitely a dessert stout. Another impressive stout from Drafting Table.
