Solid clean ferment, crisp and easy drinking. Quite sweet for the style. Just a bit worse than most german versions. Rokovinskiy Minsk

Thank you! Sampled draft @ Rakovskiy Brovar – Minsk. Before the start of modern craft in Belarus some 4 years ago this was apparently right about the best you could get beer-wise or at least around the time that Rakovskiy first released this, yikes. Dark brown, red huge, tanned head. Nose is thin burned ashes, rotting fruit, butter, glue & spoiled. Taste is unpleasant cigarettes, vegetables, bread, spoiled,… Thin ashes, buttery body. Nope.

On tap at Rakovskiy, pours a deep dark reddish brown with a small tan head. Aroma brings out toasted malt, with light tartness, and toasted nuts. Flavour is intensely, cloyingly sweet, with bready malt and sweet caramel. Way too sweet - this is pretty bad.

Tap (from tasting tray) at the brewpub. Dark mahogany with a beige head. Malty aroma with roasty notes, hints of wood, dark fruits and hops. Medium to moderate sweet with mild, but pleasant malty flavours and a light bitterness. Fairly enjoyable.
