Pilsner Urquell Nefiltrovaný (unfiltered) is available regularly only at Na Parkanu in Plzen and, every October at selected pubs under the Volba Sladků brand. A limited number of kegs were exported to Sweden and Finland for special events. Though the beer is not kvasnicovy (yeast beer), as there is no wort or young yeast added, it is unfiltered.

Note that this is not the same as the more widespread tankovná (tank beer) or the unpasteurized (filtered) version, both of which are found throughout Prague and Czech Republic. all of these other versions should be reviewed under the regular Pilsner Urquell entry. Additionally, the 170 year Anniversary flip-top bottles should be reviewed under the regular Pilsner Urquell entry.

The version of the beer available in the brewery cellars should be rated in its own entry.

Tap @ Kick. Slightly unclear golden body with a decent white head. Both aroma and flavor is classic pilsner, but has more fruity freshness than found in your average macro pilsner. Very nice soft, smooth malt flavor, fruity yeast, some more fruit in general and a balanced grassy bitterness with a floral touch. Fine balanced body and pleasant aftertaste. Highly drinkable. I’m not totally converted, but it’s for sure a very nice pilsner experience. Maybe the wooden barrel version is even better?

Draught at Tritonia, 12/1/16.
Clear, well-carbonated with a large, very firm, white head atop. Deep burnished bronze in color.
The nose is full of fresh, aromatic hops contributing both fruitiness (cherries, apples, lemons) and fresh cut, green grass. The perfect amount of dried hay and very light biscuit sits in the background, while a large amount of minerality and light honey play about as well. Absolutely stunningly clean, fresh and with not a single thing to complain about, really.
The flavor is more of the same, with a soft, malty, yet well-attenuated texture featuring sourdough drizzled with honey-like maltiness, fresh grass, light floral notes and very gentle lemon and apricot fruit notes. Engaging carbonation and a crisp finish make it incredibly drinkable. Pretty god damned phenomenal and well worth the long wait over the years to finally find this.

Draught at Keegan’s..dark gold color, some haze. Served in a shaker glass. Big hop aroma, lots of saaz. Very soft and smooth palate, dry malr, some mineral flsvor, but it s light. Dry biscuit, bread. Finish has light flowers. The saaz lingers with the dry malt. Fantastic beer.
