A clear dark reddish brown beer with a beige head. Aroma of mid sweet dark malt, red fruits, raisins, caramel. Taste of dark roasted malt, chocolate, some dark fruits, raisins, caramel, low carbonation.

Bottle from HavnensVin&Tobak. Pours opaque dark brown with huge light brown head. Aroma is roasted malt, caramel, brown sugar, prunes, raisins, dried apricot, soy sauce, oak and hints of vanilla. Taste is medium to very sweet, light to medium bitter, light acidic and faint to light salty. Body is a bit watery with sparkling carbonation. Finish is long and mostly sweet with notes of caramel, roasted malt, dried dark fruits, oak, coffee, chocolate and hints of chalk and iron. A bit too watery and way too much carbonation for my taste.

Dark brown with thin head. Dark roasted malts with a hint of coffee. Some earthy bitter hop notes comes through too.

Une nouvelle Abbaye des Rocs est forcément un événement à la vue de toutes les grandes bières que la brasserie a créées. Se pencher sur un stout est également une bonne surprise démontrant la volonté de plus en plus prégnante des brasseurs belges de diversifier leurs styles. Et indéniablement sur cette Black Roc, on retrouve la patte Abbaye des Rocs avec des similitudes avec une triple impériale mais sur laquelle on aurait ajouté des arômes de café et ave un alcool que je trouve un peu sec et quelque peu dissonant. L'ensemble donne faux et ne convainc pas car trop brouillon et peu lisible. Le visuel est sur un brun foncé surmonté d'une mousse brune de 5 mm. Le nez est sur un alcool brut trop présent, le chocolat, le caramel, le candy et une légère prune. L'ensemble ne fonctionne pas bien. On repart sur ce cocktail en attaque avec de la réglisse sur une fraîche amertume. L'intensité et la complexité est plutôt bonne, mais notre Roc s'aplatit étrangement en seconde bouche avec cependant des arômes de café qui apparaissent et un alcool qui s'affirme légèrement. L’arrière-bouche est plus douce, davantage sur le chocolat, le caramel et de légères épices. La corpulence est moyenne. Le final, d'une bonne longueur pour sa part est sur un cocktail alcool, café, prune et candy. On se perd dans ce stout qui manque de ligne directrice. Un roc ? A peine une colline.

Bottle picked up from Belgiuminabox Webshop, Antwerp, Belgium and consumed at home, Wednesday 7th October 2020 listening to Steve Lamaq on 6Music just had a Sausage Casserole with Mash. Pours dark brown almost black, carbonation is a little bit light. Chocolate, soft mouthfeel, spicy, creamy, this is good but nowhere near as good as the Ettaller Curator that I just had.

Bottle at home. Almost black with lively fizzy brown head. Sugary grains, peppery, licorice, overripe fruit, cocoa, really a lof of aromatic peppercorns going on here with some overripe black errors and light tart red currants. Solid medium sweet and medium bitter. Very light tart. Medium bodied with a lot of carbonation. Nice beer, but a little underwhelming for Les Rocs.
