The fourth of 7 beers celebrating a literary classic, and one of our favorites, Leaves of Grass, by Walt Whitman. German smoked malt, chocolate malt and roasted malt work in harmony with carefully chosen hops for a smooth, smokey take on a classic style.

Dark brown pour with a small light tan head . Smoky, roasty aroma. Flavor is led by smoked, dark roasted malt. There’s coffee and some chocolate. Not too sweet. Really tasty.

On tap at Bell's Eccentric Cafe, pours black with a reddish tinge and a small creamy tan head. Aroma brings out plenty of smoked malt, a hint of cracked black pepper, and soft earthy notes. Flavour is a bit flat, with earthy malt, toasted malt, and a hint of smoke. A little obscured and lacking depth. I'm not understanding the love for this one. Alright.

Nice stuff. Ham sandwich aroma. Taste is less smoky, but some there. Nice chocolate richness, bit of bitterness but very smooth. Some caramel too. Cheers Will!

Bottle. Black pour with a mocha colored head. Nice smoky aroma. The flavor is a nice meld of a little sweetness, smoky roast malt and bitter espresso. Doesn't have the sharpness some smoked beers have. Nice one.

Bottle from Bine & Vine. Pours dark brown/black with a foamy beige head. No lacing. Aroma is nicely smokey. I'll take a chance and choose alderwood! Why not! Med body. Creamy. Flavor is very nicely smokey. Some burnt malt and chocolate underneath. Dry. Bitter. Extremely tasty.

Smoked ham, milk chocolate malt, and hay aroma. Black with moderate tan head. Lightly sweet smoked ham, chocolate malt, and mildly bitter hay flavor. Good body and balance. Delicious.

Bottle. Earthy smoked ham and chocolate malt aroma. Black brown with a small tan head. Initial smoky roasty malt flavor followed by smooth chocolate, trailing into a slightly ashy bitterness and a hint of acidity. Medium creamy body with moderate carbonation and a slightly dry finish. Very enjoyable smoked beer.

Bottle - thanks to Drake! Not drinking these in order because I'm in the mood for a porter! Dark brown pour with a small beige head. Smoked peat, coffee bean, roasted malt aroma. Flavor is smoked malt, almost woody, dry chocolate, coffee bean, toasted grains, light soap. Tasty!
