Cask at the strugglers inn. Off black colour with a pale tan head. malty and sweet aroma and taste. Light body.

Svart ned beige skum. Lukter kakao, nøtter, mørk sirup og sjokolade. Lett. Smaker maltekstrakt, kakaopulver og stein. Kort.

Mørk brun med brunt skum. Lukter svisker, malt og sjokolade. Mild og forholdsvis lite kullsyre. Maltekstrakt, sjokolade og noe nøtter.

Bottled@SBWF2022. Deep brown colour with a mediumsized beigeish brown head. Aroma is dark berries, some roasted and liquorice tones with mild chocolate too. Flavour is blackccurrant, some burnt sugar, raisins, mild syrupy tones with some liquorice too. A bit toasted.

Cask at the Old Cross Tavern, Hertford on 29th May 2023. Deep sepia with pale tan foam and spot lacing. Malty aroma. Sweet, fruity maltiness in-mouth and a finish of cherry fruits. Velvet smooth mouthfeel and light body.

Dark brown with big fluffy head. Quite full flavoured and with a strong floral bitterness. Slight metallic note.

Cask @ The Old Brewer. Sirapslimpa, mörk choklad, lätt örtig, bränt socker. Mjuk munkänsla.

Pours dark brown, looks almost black in the glass. One finger of tan coloured head, showing pretty good retention throughout the last sips and leaving a bit of lacing. A soft malty aroma, quite vivid for a mild ale. A slight roasted malts base (hints of coffee) overcome by soft notes of nuts and chocolate, with a cola-like, slightly sugary sweetness background. There's also a hint of fruitiness, i can't pick anything specific but i'd say something in the middle of citrus and berries. Taste notes as per aroma, with (ripe) citric fruitiness showing up more clearly and giving a light refreshing feeling to the soft maltiness. Mild in both sweetness and bitterness and very well balanced throughout. Light bodied, light to medium carbonation, super easily drinkable as obvious but smooth/soft enough if you leave in the mouth. A very pleasant dark mild.

Bottle from Booths Supermarket, Media City. Black with an extremely thin off-white head. Easy textured dark-malt ale, somewhat sweet, with this fusion becoming its flavour. Much better than the cask version I first sampled a decade ago although that was probably a bad batch.

500ml bottle. Pours almost black with a long lasting beige head. Aroma of liquorice, dark fruit, roast malts. Taste of dark fruits, liquorice, caramel, roast malts, chocolate, bitter finish. Light bodied, smooth.
