33cl Fles van De Laat. Bijna zwarte kleur, beige kraag. Erg zoet, licht droppig, caramel, melkchocolade, hint van koffie, haal de vanille en kokos er niet uit, en eigenlijk ook de hele RIS niet. Zoete BSA.

Bottle from Tidens Farver @ Home. Pours black with a tan head, some lacings. Aroma of roasted malt, caramel, light coffee, nuts, vanillla. Flavor is light bitter, roast malt, coffee, nuts, vaniilla, light alcohol. Medium body, average carbonation, light bitter finish. 260222

Flesje thuis gedronken. Zwart bier met matig schuim dat als een film blijft liggen. Aroma van koffie. Smaak is zoetig en fruitig met een hint van vanille. De kokosnoot komt pas in de nasmaak naar voren.

Bottle shared by Willem, thanks! Dark brown color, average to medium sized off-white to beige head. Smell and taste malts, soft roast, sweetish coconut notes, an addition, not annoying at all to my surprise, although there is quite some sweetness there. Quite pleasant overall though.

One of several new Enigma beers, a strong stout flavoured with coconut and vanilla, brewed at Anders. Thick and foamy, frothy, cobweb-lacing, yellowish beige head on a black beer with thin misty burgundy edges. Aroma initially dominated by sharp carbon dioxide - but this fades quickly, making room for impressions of old dusty chocolate bars, hard caramel, port sauce, game stock, brown bread, prunes, raisin bread, cashew nuts, freshly cut red apples, brown honey, pear syrup, candi sugar even, madera, baked banana but hardly any vanilla at all - and no discernable coconut whatsoever. Fruity onset, sweet with hints of dried banana and fig, raisin, red apple, sourish blackberry-like touch, medium carbonated; full, very toffeeish, pecan-nutty and somewhat chocolatey maltiness, sweetness of 'sirop de Liège' lingering about but again the vanilla has a hard time piercing through, and the coconut passes by without being noticeable at all. Ends with a light bready yeast effect, a herbal hop bitter note and warming, port-like alcohol, strong and boozy, but not showing up too early. A well-made Belgian strong dark - 'Belgian imperial stout' to the bone, with strong quadrupel-like influences. Potent, complex, agreeable sipper, but failing to reach its goal in promising vanilla and coconut without delivering any... One point off for that, would have been close to 4/5 otherwise.

Zwart bier met mooie stevige lichtbruine schuimkraag. Smaak is zoet met iets van vanille, karamel en een vleug koffie. Zou nog net even iets romiger mogen zijn om een echt top bier te worden.

16th November 2019 Opaque dark brown beer, good size bubbly tan head. Fluffy palate, very airy and with reasonable superfine carbonation. Ephemeral dark malts, light as a cloud, very mild dark malt cream and the lightest touch of tang. There is a generic sweetness here but none of it readily identifiable as vanilla or coconut derived. Fluffy and supermild earthy coffee brings down the curtain on this extraordinarily light Impy. Perhaps a little too light. Finally, trace of coconut in the aftertaste.

3 February 2019. At Brugs Bierfestival. Cheers to Anke & Pieter! Cloudy black with a big, lasting, foamy, dark beige head; lots of lacing. Aroma of raisin, blackcurrant, blue plum, mocha, milk chocolate, chocolate mousse, soy milk, brownie dough, vanilla, custard & crème brûlée. Taste is medium malty sweet, lots of chocolate & brownie dough in balance with fruity notes of raisin & blackcurrant; a nutty edge initiates a light roasted bitterness that carries mocha, roasted nuts & toast. Dryish, toasty, bit earthy hoppy finish, lingering dark fruit & chocolate, and a subtle dash of warming whisky alcohol to top it off. Medium body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. Restrained in typical Stout roastedness, but thanks to that a very smooth one.
