In the spirit of all the exploratory missions deployed across the galaxy — be they spacecraft, Viking or other — we’re constantly probing the world of beer back here on Earth. That quest has brought us to this latest creation, which comes from our brewing team at Stone Brewing – Napa. With a subtle haze reminiscent of some far-off nebula, and further complimented with the juicy flavors of Ella and Citra hops, this beer is most definitely out of this world. Crafted to be enjoyed on Earth, but if intelligent life does exist out there, we’re pretty sure they’ll like it too.

Stone, that is the good news. Otherwise I have another NE style IPA to try, hit or miss. 12 oz bottle sold as a single at the nearest big box supermarket. Best by date of June 19, 2021, I hope it does not effect the session. The bottle is cold and I’m pouring into a cooled, tall beer glass. A nice appearance, I see an opaque, dark orange liquid with a steady film of off-white foam. Nice with the scent also, juicy, tropical and the barest indication of hops. The taste is surprisingly good imho, an aggressively strong maltiness, pineapple, mango, hops, slightly dank and firmly bitter. As I drink down I see some lacing. Fine effort.

Bottle as Stone Viking Space Probe Hazy DIPA. An orange beer, a head is medium and blond. Aroma has mandarin, grapefruit, some pine. Taste has mandarin, fructose, pine in the end, some bitterness. Medium bodied. Too old and it can be noticed. Pretty nice anyway.

16/VIII/21 - 33cl bottle, shared @ the Abeels’ place, BB: 22/II/22, bottled: 22/II/21 (2021-827) Thanks to all for sharing today’s beers!
Cloudy beige blond beer, creamy bit irregular off-white head, stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: soapy, floral, little malty, some coconut. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: sweet start, very fruity, lots of citrus, bit sweet, some alcohol. Aftertaste: nice, pretty dank, very hoppy, some tropical fruits, lots and lots of coconut, pineapple, very bitter, pretty soapy, resinous, bit piny. Still decent after almost 6 months! Probably much better when fresher...

Gyllengul, kraftigt grumlad vätska med vit och tjockt skum. Dofter av grape, ananas, tall och tobak. Rejäl skjuts i beskan som ändå matchas av en ren maltkropp. Eldig munkänsla och mycket värmande.

Tasty DIPA from Stone (Napa), whatever the hell that means. Lovely notes of candied orange zest, grapefruit, and pine, backed up by a spicy floral bitterness and a lingering mineral bite in the fade. Pitch-perfect texture makes this 8.5% beer remarkably easy to drink. Nice pint.
