Seasonal beer bought at Brouwershuis in Baarle-Hertog in 2005, not sure if it is still made. Not really a saison, contrary to what the simple red label says, rather a kind of special amber. Anyway: yellowish, moussy, stable head on an orangey amber colour, cristal clear. Fruity and caramelly aroma of apple, melon, grapefruit, curry, tomato, broth, cookies, vanilla, cinnamon and liquorice. Fruity sweetish taste, caramelly and bit nutty malts, lots of strange spicy notes, smooth finish with little hops. Different, that’s for sure.

Clear amber colour, white head. Aroma of caramel, sherry and some woody cork notes. Caramel flavour, sherry, metallic, raisins. Quite sweet! Quite light body. Finish sherry, caramel and malts. Quite sweet, aged nicely, still very much drinkable.

Clear red to orange beer, aery white creamy head, little stable (wow!), adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: sweet liquor touch, orange peel, sherry notes, cellar, bit moldy, mildew. MF: soft to no carbon (guess it all went into the head), medium to light body. Taste: very sweet start, caramel, orange peel, sherry notes, little spicy. Aftertaste: soft bitterness, sherry, sugar, caramel, bit of walnuts, soft bitterness, sweet sugary ending.

(Bottle 75 cl) Dark golden with a reddish hue, hazy with a tall, pretty and quite stable head. Some initial sweetness but still with a pronounced bitterness. Full malty flavours. The cork is dated 1997 and perhaps this beer has a slightly tired feel. Not flat, but perhaps earthy and musty - but then again, you also find that in some fresh Belgians. Still a nice brew though. 070200
