33cl from tap at Backdoor, Ghent (30 IV 2019), as Red Rooster. This appears to be the only house where you can get this Strubbe fruit beer. The beer colours dark red, ruby or unclear purple, and has a firm dark white, beige or even pinkish collar. The nose has different notes of malts, caramel, forest berries, candy. The mouthfeel gives likewise sensations. The beer has an overly sweet character, backed with some malt features, but overaccentuated with grenadine, sugary strawberry hints, blackberries, vague yeast hints, table beer, different touches of alcohol. The sugar is just too overwhelming, I'm afraid. The palate is unnatural, almost chemical.

One of the two house beers of the new Rock Circus beer pub in Ghent, only available there and only from tap. Cloudy, dark brownish red beer under an off-white, thick, sticky head with pinkish hue, often a sign of fruit extracts having been used. Sweet aroma of red candy, liquorice, grenadine, strawberry icecream, caramel, honey, apple cake, slight lemony hint. Sugary taste, bubblegum and artificial red fruit, butterscotch, cake, soft mouthfeel, smooth, bready and caramelly malts in the background, a bit yeasty, slight retronasal spiciness, resinous and sweet, but fortunately not too cloying finish with very low hoppiness. Clearly another heavy top-fermented sweet fruit beer, a style popular nowadays especially in Wallonia and France - but not for me. Probably closely related to their Keyte Grand Kriek, if not an alias of it.

13/IX/14 - on tap @ Rock Circus (Gent), BB: n/a (2014-999)

Clear deep ruby red beer, creamy big beige head, little stable, bit adheisve. Aroma: sweet, fruity, sugary, red forest fruits, uh-oh! MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: very sweet start, sugary, sour notes, lemony, soft bitterness. Aftertaste: soft sugary touch, fruity, some caramel, lemony sourness, red fruits, little hoppy. I have no idea what they're trying to prove with this...
