This is Carver. A Micro IPA. We took everything we love about IPAs and brought down the ABV. It’s hoppy, it’s got body, it’s got balance, tropical aromas and a smooth, juicy taste.
Goes well with bright mornings and open roads.

Can at home, from Gipsy Hill online, 07/02/21. Lightly hazed pale orange with a good sized white head. Nose is orange pith, stoned fruits, melon, grass, airy malts. Taste comprises orange zest, light pine flicker, melon, grass, tangerine, hint of stoned fruits. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close spiked with light juicy hop bitterness. Solid flavoursome stuff given the meagre ABV.

Can from Honest Brew. Hazy pale golden body with a thin white head. Lively carbonation. Patchy lacing. Aroma of straw and white bread. Flavour of melon rind and grass. Thin body with a slick texture. Soft fizz. Clean and flavoursome. An excellent low ABV beer.

Can consumed 9 weeks after packaging. Cloudy orange, fizzy head that dissipates and leaves no lacing. Light fruity hop aroma with mango and grapefruit notable. Taste is sweet and chalky with notes of pine. Dry finish. Very light and easy to drink. Decent for the low ABV.

26/4/2020. Can from the Emsworth Brewhouse. Pours cloudy pale yellow gold with a large fluffy white head. Aroma is hoppy, citrusy and tropical with lots of lemon, grapefruit, pineapple, passion fruit and mango. Moderate sweetness and medium bitterness. Moderate body, slight watery texture, average carbonation. Dry, slightly tart and bitter finish. Packs a lot in its 2.8%. Very nicely done.

“Micro IPA” at 2.8% I see no reason not to regard this as a session IPA – so why not simply call it that way and reserve that new term “micro IPA” for the nearly alcohol free ones? Anyway, tasted from a can, at 4th Gentse Bierquiz. Snow white, thickly mousy, cobweb-lacing, fluffy head, hazy yellow-golden blonde robe. Aroma of green mango, lime juice, pink grapefruit, freshly cut cucumber, fresh green onions, pomelo peel, unripe pineapple. Crisp onset, very sharp and crystalline (over)carbonation, numbing, clean and straightforward fruity aspects, green banana, unripe mango and lime flesh, restrained sweetishness, cereally, clean slick pale malt body, thinnish but ‘filled’ by the carbonation at first and the hoppiness right after, with a lovely citric character, very focused and refreshing, hinting at pepper, lime peel and unripe mango again. Very crisp, focused, refreshing and pleasantly ‘green-yellow fruity’ little beer, certainly among the best IPAs I had so far with less than 3% ABV.

Pale blond and hazy with fluffy head. Aroma and flavour have plenty of dry, floral hop notes. Too much carbonation.

Can at home picked up from Brewdog tower hill. A mostly clear yellow straw coloured pour with a lively rocky white head. Aroma is dried citrus, pollen, passion fruit, little bready grains. Flavour is composed of crisp light grains, bread, light straw, , floral citrus, melon, white grape, light selzer. Palate is crisp, frothy, airy carbonation. Drinks really well for such a low abv.
