On the 17th and 18th of September 1944, forces of the British 1st Airborne Division and Glider Pilot Regiment landed at Dropzone X near Renkum. From here they began their attempt to capture the Rhine bridges as part of operation Market Garden.
The fields around Dropzone X are now abundant with common heather, the flowers of which give this beer its special flavour.
Profits are donated to local charities in support of the Market Garden commemorations.

Bottle. Dark brown color. Caramel, chocolate and a hint of licorice in the aroma and flavor. Grassy hops, partly hidden. Citrus. The chocolate should’t dominate, but the beer is still OK.

Bottle. Color: Almost black, thin beige head. Aroma: Roasted malt, hop, floral herbs. Taste: Dark malt, notes of chocolate, caramel, some mocha, decent hopbitterness. Moderate sweet. Floral and herbal notes, most probably from the used Heather. Floral, bittery and bit earthy finish. Medium body, moderate carbonation. Smooth mouthfeel. Very nice, BKDL positively surprised me once again with the beer, I like the Heather floral notes.
