The name, “Deer Snacks,” is an homage to many Vermonters’ feelings about wild apples. The gnarled fruit that we find while foraging has, for decades, been chalked up as food for wildlife, ill suited for human consumption. We know better: Every now and then, we discover wild apple trees producing remarkable fruit that cries out to be turned into cider, and that’s the fruit we harvest by hand and take home to the cidery. Of course, we always leave a few snacks behind the for the deer.

Can. Pours a clear pale gold with a white head that dissipates completely. Aroma has rich apple with a dryness leading and a hint of sweetness as well. Flavor combines sweet apple with a dry apple finish and a hint of acid coming through.

Can from Holiday Market. Pours a clear silver-gold with a quickly dissipating bit of white foam. Apple and yeast on the nose with mineral, sticks and crabapple tart aromas. Smooth and light on the palate with some funky must, apple and light pear flavors. Lingering tart apple and musty hay on the finish. Very clean, tart and funky.
