Inspired by our brewers' love of the assertive, bright flavors of Thai ingredients, this intensely flavored brew incorporates the vibrant quality of several Thai-inspired ingredients into our classic imperial stout. Powerful notes of citrus, botanicals, and tropical fruit balance the stout's rich chocolate, caramel, and coffee character. The result is an amazingly flavorful and complex beer that pays tribute to the flavors of Thailand.

On tap at Beer Temple in Amsterdam, with markoijelena. Best beer of the tour! Black pour with gassy ivory foam. Nose: ginger blast, it really talks to gin, roast is superbly round and clean. Mouthfeel: just AMAZING! Great chocolate roast, ginger, anice. TOP!

(750ml bottle from boxbeers.dk) Pours pitch black with an average and somewhat stable dark cream head. Aroma of lead by bright lemongrass and lime, moderate ginger, herbal notes, a bit of licorice (Thai basil?), coffee with cream, light coconut, umami, dark chocolate, soft fruitiness, a bit of roast, like fresh curry paste plus stout. Should be horrible, is actually compelling. Flavour is lightly sweet dark chocolate, earthy coffee, coconut, lemongrass, citrus peels, botanical/herbal mix, slightly tingly ginger, tropical fruit touches. Rather light sweetness to the malts, quite dry from the coffee and roast, adjuncts probably help emphasize the dryness. Finish is nearly bone dry and has that fascinating fresh green curry feel mixed with moderate roast bitterness, black coffee, cacao and coconut. Medium-full body, pretty softly carbonated, no alcohol. Damn this is fun! Sniffing a fresh green curry paste alongside this towards the end of the glass confirmed my association and further blew my mind. On paper the combination's a mess, in reality it was vibrant, balanced and drinkable.

Bottle, courtesy of SinH4. Pours black with a brown head. Aroma is perfume, soap, like a citric soft session IPA. Just at 12%. Shit! Body is heavy and strong, still a Speedway, but herbal, lime, citric. Such a weird beet, yet so tasty and balanced. Impressive!

Bottle, thanks derA! Black color with beige head. Aroma is full on basil, lemongrass, kaffir, coffee, ginger, really everything there. Taste is basil, ginger, lemongrass, all the spicesy with a light roast and chocolate. Velvety, super-smooth mouthfeel with soft carbonation, full-bodied. Works, and extra points for the daring idea and nailing the balance.

Sample at Bob's Bar. Brown-black pour with a medium thick tan head that diminishes gradually to a film. Patchy lacing. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, roast malt and tea. Full-bodied with flavors of charred malt, coffee, chocolate and a bit of spiced fruit. The finish is roasty with a coffee and malt aftertaste. Good beer overall.
