On tap. Pours black with short tan head. Aromas of muddy dark chocolate, ginger, dusty citrus, coriander and soft toasted malts. Flavors of coconut and chocolate, ginger and cumin, and sweet chocolate and more soft roasted malts. Wunderbar.

Taster at Rogues Convention Center during the Alesmith Canadian Sales start event with Slack guys. Pours an almost black with a beige head. Aroma is spices and coffee. Taste is similar, very balanced on spices side, moderately sweet, some chocolate notes. So good and balanced stuff!

Draft - Lemongrass, turmeric and dark roast. Jet brown with a small beige head. Much like it smells, curry spices and turmeric and a nice finish. Coffee is pretty subtle but flavour profile is unique but fun.

Pours black. Very resistant, bit darker head. Smell is rich, coffee, bit spice , cinnamon I would think. Taste is full, mild peppery ( green pepper, not spiced ) dark roasty malts. Spices. Bit green. Not my favorite.

Keg at Local Option. Black, large creamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of lime, ginger, spice, roast. Taste is roast, chocolate, ginger, lime, coconut, anise, vanilla. Medium-full bodied, lingering heat. Booze well hidden.

On tap at the brewery, courtesy of BeerandBlues2. Pours black with medium beige head. Roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, coconut, some fruit, bunch of spices. I can see who this could have gone wrong in different ways, but spices are very well integrated with classic Speedway, loved it. Sweet, but not overly. Smooth. Full bodied.

Dark chocolate, coffee, mint. Black, thin tan head. Dark chocolate, raisin, mint. Espresso finish. Medium body, soft carbonation. Not nearly as weird as I expected and good as heck!

Draft taproom. Pours black with a small team head. Aroma is sweet chili sauce, chocolate. Flavor is Thai chili, chocolate, a little mint. Maybe some coconut. I’m not sure about this.

From tap. Pours pitch black with a small brown head. Aroma is pitchbjlack, small brown head. Aroma is roasted dark malty. Thick malty, slight liqourice note. Dry. Light herbal. Mild herbal finish, breaking the normally sweet finish.

On tap at Brewer’s Republic. Pours black, with a medium, foamy, tan head. The nose is milk chocolate and coffee, with some pretty strong lime and ginger. Notes of earth, brown sugar, cilantro, and raw coconut. Very sweet and syrupy, with a light bitterness for balance, and a surprisingly nice, savory spice through the finish. Very heavy body, with a thick, chewy, and silky mouthfeel. Very interesting treatment. Not what I expected, but it works pretty well. The Thai flavors are relatively subdued, but it still is odd at first, until you get into the beer a little. I think I’d prefer the original, but it’s close.
