Schwarz means black in German but don’t let pFriem Schwarzbier’s dark color fool you. This is an elegant lager with a light roastiness and hints of caramel and honey. Once you’ve experienced the notes of cocoa and toffee, you’ll be happy to join the dark side.

Draft at Bottleworks. Regular and dull. Not enough black malt for me mineral dark malts lagered. Either a little sweet or not sweet enough.

On tap at pFriem, pours a dark amber with a medium off-white head. Aroma brings out notes of toasted malt, a little toffee and some roast. Flavour brings out toasted nuts, toasted malt, and a little dry toffee. Light-to-medium bodied, with medium complexity for the style. Finishes nutty ad toasty. Very nice schwarz.
