Sample at the taproom. Black pour with a medium thick khaki head that recedes gradually to a film. Patchy lacing on the glass. Roast malt, dark chocolate and coffee in the nose. Medium to full body with flavors of charred malt, bittersweet chocolate and coffee. The finish is roasty with a coffee and malt aftertaste. Above average overall.

Black. Malty and boozy. Middle of the road sweetness. Finish is bittersweet. Decent but lacking any real complexity.

Keg at the brewery tap, 15/11/14. Black with a good tan covering. Nose is light roast, rich malt, chocolate biscuit, dark fruit rinds. Taste comprises roast malt, molasses, dark toffee, biscuit notes, chocolate. Medium + body, fine carbonation, lightly warming alcohol in the close. Ok sipper but a little basic and lacking depth for the style/ABV.
