Porter brewed with molasses and aged in oak barrels.
We set a portion of every batch of General Washington’s Tavern Porter aside in freshly emptied bourbon barrels shipped straight from Kentucky. There, the beer ages for three months, absorbing vanilla, oak and bourbon flavors from the barrel walls. The end result is our Washington’s Reserve, a smooth, aromatic porter with hints of dried fruit in the finish and vanilla on the nose.

Tap at the brewery in Philadelphia. A reddish mahogany brown coloured pour a halo of beige head. Aroma is semi sweet. Bourbon, figgy prunes, brown sugars. Liquorice. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, bourbon, vanilla, prune jam, sticky, toasted malts. Palate is semi sweet. Sticky. Moderate carbonation. Nice old ake vibes.

Tap at UNO’s Chicago Grill in Hamilton, NJ. Barely translucent brown pour. Brief beige head. Faint roasted malt nose. First sip is roasted malt and oak. Sweet chocolate and bourbon in middle. Lots of flavor without the big ABV hammer.

Tap bocktown. Big & black, nice lacing from a creamy head. Neutral aroma. Wew, from the start the taste is lots of whiskey, whiskey laced porter. What else can be said except if you want bourbon, go get a shot, don’t mix it with good porter, if I want boiler-maker, I’ll order a boiler-maker, go figger. Piss me off. Yes, if you didn’t guess it, bourbon whiskey is what this beer is all about. Bourbon is in yer face, not impressed - bullshit, exactly as stated, porter aged in bourbon soaked barrels, what else would you expect?

Dark brown with a beige head. Aroma has nice roasted malts, chocolate, caramel, nice bourbon, too. Flavor starts with that sweet bourbon, then fades and let’s the lightly roasted malts, chocolate, molasses, and light earthy hops slide in. Finishes sticky and sweet. Real nice.
