On tap at Pizza Port Carlsbad. Pours with a near black body with a long lasting off-white head that leaves great lacing. Aromas are bready, grainy, mostly clean, light hops, some sulfur, grassy and a hint of fruit. Flavors are bready, a bit of burnt toast, sulfur, grainy. Light hops and a hint of cardboard (but not really in an oxidated way). Medium bodied, medium to lively carbonation. A nice beer with a good malt profile.

Very dark maybe black with a lighter than expected head. Smooth malty flavor with light roast and mid-range hopping. Like most of the specials at the brewpub this one was very easy drinking and solid overall, but maybe not spectacular. I’d get it again, though.
