Dick’s Best Bitter is a beer you will love, a beer that you will not want to tell your friends about, obviously because you will want it all for yourself. We at Dick’s take pride in brewing a beer that will make hop heads stop for a second and realize, “hey maybe the hops don’t have to eat my face off, but they can be subtle and mellow”. Bittered heavily with Magnum hops, and finished even heavier with Mt. Hood, we find that this beer is hop forward, but still has enough malt to balance the finish.

A real pretty copper color with a firm and lasting head. Nice aroma. Malty with sweet, fruity hops, and some biscuit. Flavor has a lot of that fruitiness but pulls the sweetness back, which is nice. Some malts and spices round out the flavor. Finishes rather bitter and lasting. Body is a little more carbonated than I would like, but it’s not bad. I found this to be highly refreshing and really enjoyed the crisp hoppy flavor. I’d go through a few of these in a night.

Bottle, Stockholm Beer Festival 2007 afterfestival at Per’s
Cloudy amber color. A beer with a lot of dry caramel, a bit astringent and with vegetables traces. Too ordinary.

Aroma of caramel malt, fresh fruits. Nice amber color, with a white head that laces while diminishing. Medium bodied. Fruity, some citrus and some stone fruit. There is definitely malt, but it does not get in the way of the flavors. Almost creamy as the moderate carbonation erupts. The finish is very nicely balanced. The finish seems floral rather than fruity. Great ale.

Bottle: Copper pour with a thick, medium sized beige head. No real lacing. Nose was a bit doughy, earthy malts, and floral hops. Taste of caramel, breads, earth tones, floral hops, and a more lingering bitter tail. Nice, thick body.
