Other Half’s self-proclaimed ‘flagship IPA’, from tap at Bar Beenhouwer, cheers Meeki Meekio. Snow white, membrane-lacing, dense and frothy, pillowy head resting stable on a cloudy yolk-yellow robe with somewhat rosy tinge. Aroma of pomelo, guava, cake dough, cooked lemongrass, crumbled Betterfood, leftover dough, vague background hints of rainwater and sweaty dankness. Smooth hop-fruity onset, juicy with notes of guava, green mango and a touch of watermelon, softishly carbonated with soft, creamy mouthfeel; retronasally that dank-sweaty note reappears, but overpowered by tropical and citrusy hops – yet both elements too remain relatively subtle for the genre. Powdery hops creep into the throat, depositing a soft yet medium length bitterness – no sign of hop burn though. Technically very correctly executed: your basic, refreshing, summery NEIPA, yet for me the tropical fruit or citric notes (or both) could have been more ‘in your face’ as is the case with so many other good examples of this style. Frankly a bit understated in the aromatic department, I guess I was expecting a bit more from this brewery.

Can from trade with Aaron. Hazy orange with small, white head. Loads and loads of pineapple, with some onion, cookie dough, mango and herbs. Dangerously drinkable.

Can from Mike: pours orange haze with white head. Aroma is mango, pineapple, loads of other ambiguous tropical fruitiness. Taste is very sweet, a little bit of the spring onion finish. Alcohol is super well covered. Sweet aftertaste that lingers for a while. Good.

Draught @ Other Half, Brooklyn. Sweetish, stingy hoppy with some juicy tropical fruits, herbal notes, pine, citrus, mango and grapefruit. Good, but not quite as awesome as the two previous versions.
