Tasting at Jamie's
Black colour, small frothy head with short retention. Mild aroma of roasted malt and booze. Medium body strength, moderate sweetness, roasted malt, roasted nuts, cocoa, light spices. Not the most rich, but very good anyway.

Bouteille 500ml, gracieuseté de msjpearson, Thanks Mike! Couleur noire opaque, mousse moka foncée fugace. Arôme de cardamome, eau de rose, café mexicain, cendre, pointe épicée. Goût de malt torréfié, café, cardamome, amertume moyenne-faible apportée par le malt, plutôt sucrée. Carbonatation faible, corps moyen-dense.

This imp stout poured a deep black colour with a creamy, light brown head. Minimal lacing. Scents include coffee, alcohol, a little smoke and a little cocoa. First swig had an ultra creamy mouthfeel. Pure velvet. Flavours of coffee, chocolate, roasted malts and table syrup. Finish was sweet and burnt with dark cocoa and caramel flavours lingering.

(On tap @ Birreria Volo, Toronto, Jan 19/20) Pours black with a small beige head and a touch of lace. Notes of milk chocolate, vanilla, sweet cinnamon, softly roasty coffee, earth, warm chiles, coffee liqueur, a little dark malt with a powdery, toasty roast character, spices a bit more prominent into the finish but all adjuncts are somewhat blended together. Fairly low sweetness overall, slightly drying back end, low bitterness, touch of spice heat. A bit light in the mouth, slightly creamy, absolutely no sign of ABV, very low carbonation. Good, though it never really feels very imperial, just like a solid Mexican stout. Very easy to drink.
