Kees & Menno thought about malts. Smoked malts as the base malt for a new brew… Smoked malt from Bamberg to be precise. The choice of base malt was unanimous. But (headstrong who?) they wanted to make two different beers with it. March 14th 2017was Imperial Stout (Frack & Frick) day at our place, April 12th was Barley Wine (Frick & Frack) day at Brouwerij Kees!' place. Try them alongside to taste the obvious differences and unavoidable similarities.

Botella 33 cl en Cimmeria 06..07..2017 GraciasFombe!! (r08). Elaborada en 06..04..2017 hasta 06..04..2027. Color negro intenso con espuma beige. Aromas y sabores intensos ahumados con maltas tostadas ligeramente dulces y toques carbonizados que se intensifican al calentar. Ligeros Cacaos y vainillas. Amargo ligeramente herbaceo al final. Cuerpo medio a intenso con buena sensacion alcoholica desde el principio. Bastante buena, una buena dosis de ahumados. Para repetir sin duda.

Bottle from het Biermoment, dated 06-04-17 BB 06-04-27, 33 cl sample. Dark color, short frothy head. Aroma of lots of smokey sausage, bit roast. More roast and dry smokey campfire wood in taste. Finishes fairly dry. Love the aroma especially.

Bottle. Black pour. Aroma of smoked ham, caramel, chocolate malt and sausage, almost savory. Taste has strong smoked ham, creamy chocolate malt, caramel, mild licorice, subtle peat, creamy roast and a rich bacony savory finish. Strong smokey stuff, like a bamberg ris. Very good.
