Location: Growler from Superstar Beer City, 10/27/14
Aroma: The basil definitely stand out, there's lots of herbs and spice (basil, rye bread, etc.)
Appearance: A clear copper pour with a small beige head that leaves coating lace on the glass
Flavor: Tastes of heavy herbal spice, with rye spice, light sweetness, and a light-mid bitterness
Palate: The body is medium, it has a spicy tingle, soft carbonation, and a long, dry finish
Overall Impression: If you purchased a beer called "Basil in the Rye" and got a basil and rye malt based beer, then you can't be too disappointed, right? This one definitely lives up to the billing of the name. The basil is definitely the dominant component of this beer. The rye is the clear number two component here. There's enough hop bitterness for some balance. Basil and rye: what else is there to say?

Owl Farm, Brooklyn tap: Pours amber with a whitish head. Aroma is citrus, basil, sugar, and some rye malt. Taste is nice rye malt with a hint of basil in there. Hoppiness is certainly there, but it is not at all brutal. Nice touches of orange. Very well balanced.
