12 oz. can. Pours a husky amber body, quite hazy, under a foamy off-white head. Some unfiltered bits of malt even in the head. Thin amber malt smell, just balanced by a nose of woody English hops. Fine malty taste with a prickle of hop bitterness on the tongue. English hops grow stronger. Full mouthfeel, malty at first, then dries off after swallowing. Filling, but also easy to drink.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Gentile's, 6/10/14
Aroma: The nose is basically rye weed, this one should have been my 420th rating
Appearance: It pours a dark reddish color with a thick beige head and some fairly heavy lace
Flavor: The taste is hoppy as well, plenty of rye bread, and a nice hoppy bitterness
Palate: The body is medium-plus, has a smooth feel, soft-to-average carbonation, and a dry finish
Overall Impression: I thought this was a pretty damn enjoyable example of the ESB style. You could certainly do a heck of a lot worse, style-wise.

Sample at Prairie Moon in Evanston, IL. Clear orange-amber color with a medium white head that diminishes steadily to a film. Patchy lacing on the glass. Malt, caramel and hops in the nose. Light to medium-bodied with a creamy texture and flavors of caramel malt, fruit and earthy hops. The finish is sweet with a malty aftertaste. Decent overall.
