Bottle, at Kristiansand Ølfestival. A dark brown beer, unclear, and topped by a finger-thick, dense, beige head. The aroma has lots of myrica gale, some generic herbal scents, caramel and roasted malts. Full-bodied, smooth and with a nice carbonation. Nice sweetness in the mouth, suiting the herbs very good. Caramel, roasted malt notes and a little bitterness too. Long herb dominated finish. A really fine herb beer. 150822

Bottle (AIH53, from Vm Kirkenes)
Dark ruby color, small steady beige head. Aroma has clove, ginger, berries and toasted malts. Medium to full-bodied (suprsingly). Flavor has caramalt, blueberries and spices with kind of herbal twist. Weird beer. Although it has "old ale" in its name, it is not an old ale per RB but traditional ale.

Bottled@AIH53 (from Vinmonopolet, Kirkenes). Copper colour, small off-white head. Aroma is a bunch of Xmas spices (star anise etc), mild bilberries, some malts and a bit spiced yeast. Flavour is spruce, star anise, some bilberries and mild yeasty spicing to it. In a way this reminds quite much of their Stille Natt.

Medium beige head. Clear deep dark red body with floating particles. Toasted sugar and caramel aroma with fruity licorice and herb notes. Sweet herbal licorice taste with spicy fruity notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, mealy mouthfeel. Dryish fruity herbal licorice aftertaste with roasty sooty lime notes. Figures that they used myrica gale. Lovely, delicate, balanced, subtle beer. Extremely drinkable. (0.33l bottle, from wine monopoly Strømmen. Batch #403.)
