22oz bottle during the set tasting. Pours out a hazy straw color topped with a small soap head. Nose is full on cardamom as advertised along with some herbal notes. Taste is more of the heavy cardamom spice some cinnamon and a little caramel sweetness.

Location: 22 oz bottle from State Line, 8/1/12
Aroma: The nose has lots of spice/cardamom, with a little tea, lemon, and a little herbal
Appearance: It pours a cloudy orange color with a small white head and spotty lace
Flavor: Lightly sweet up-front, but the spice flavor takes over pretty quickly after that, and lasts throughout
Palate: The body is medium, with a spicy tingle throughout, a lively carbonation, and a lengthy finish
Overall Impression: This is the first of the 12 Beers of the Apocalypse that I have tried thus far. This was an interesting, if a touch one-dimensional offering. First off, it makes me think Indian food pairing immediately. Beyond that, the spice and the tea-like notes are really the dominant component here from the nose all the way through the feel. Still, I found it to be quite drinkable and fairly interesting, so I'm curious to try the other ones, and see how they turn out.

Bomber from PC Market of Choice in Ashland, OR. Pours light amber with a creamy head. Nice aroma of cardamom. Med body. Flavor is mostly cardamom, but there are hints of malt. It’s very spicy. Think it would go really well with spicy food!

Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a bright golden color with a small white head that faded quickly and left no lacing. The aroma was dryish, floral and herbal. The flavor was tangy, dryish and very floral and herbal without a whole lot else going on. Medium dry floral and herbal finish. Medium body. Disappointing.

On tap at The Beer Mongers, pours a cloudy golden orange with a small white head. Aroma of cardamom and floral notes. Flavour of soap, cardamom and floral hops. Very nice incorporation of the cardamom. Quite nice.

Sample at the Tap House Grill in Seattle. This is the March beer in their "Apocalypse" series. The beer is a hazy dark orange color with a medium off-white head that recedes steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of sweet spices and fruit. Medium body with flavors of cardamom and ginger along with some malt and fruit. The finish is sweet with a lingering spice aftertaste. Kind of one-note but interesting and tasty overall.
